SAVE MONEY BY UNPLUGGING ELECTRONICS AND APPLIANCES

Whenever you are not using your small appliances and electronics, you should make sure that you unplug them to save money. If you leave them plugged in all of the time then they will leak electricity. Of course, this is not something that you want to have happen since this will basically drain money out of your pocket for no reason. In fact, they can drain around $20 from your pocket each month, on average. This can add up to around $240 a year. Of course, you could think of a lot of better things to do with this money. Therefore, you really need to know what some of the biggest energy-drainers in this area are. They include microwave ovens, televisions, DVD players, computers, game systems and cable and satellite TV boxes.

If you are unable to unplug these things whenever they are not in use, then you should at least plug them into a power strip that has an on/off switch so that you can easily power that off whenever possible. Power strips work well because whenever you turn them off they will no longer draw energy from the outlet. Also, power strips are convenient because you can turn off several appliances or electronic devices with the flip of one switch.

If the ease of this savings opportunity and the amount of money that you can save is not enough encouragement for you to do these things, then just think about the fact that this will also allow you to do something good for the environment. In the end, it is well worth the small amount of time and effort it will take.
