SAVE MONEY BY OPENING YOUR SHADES IN THE WINTER

If your windows don’t allow a lot of cold into the house, you can save money by opening your shades and curtains and keeping them open as much as possible during the day. This is because the sun’s natural lighting can enter your home and be used to warm your home instead of electricity and natural gas.  Of course, this will help to cut down on your electric and gas bills and thus save you some money.

However, you do need to be careful here.  If you find that you have drafts that are entering your home from around your windows, then you are probably going to want to close your shades in order to keep the cold air out.  There is another way of fixing this though and that is by purchasing and installing the plastic that goes over the top of your windows.  This will allow you to keep your shades open so as to allow the natural sunlight in and lower your electric bills without worrying about the drafts causing you to spend what you would have saved on heating your home.  In the long run, a few simple modifications can actually save you a great deal of money throughout the winter months and none of these things require much work at all.
